I’m so glad you asked! I do like to think we do things a little differently here at Details Matter Bookkeeping. To start, we do not do hourly rates. This was just a mess for both me and the clients back when I was first starting out. They never knew what their bill was going to be and I didn’t have a steady stream of income. Some clients would get behind and send me like 3 months of work at once. So, I wasn’t paid for 3 months and then they had a big bill at the end. Not fun! So, we switched over to fixed monthly prices that are based on packages and are custom for each client depending on their needs
Another thing we do differently is leveraging technology. I am all about that saying “work smarter, not harder”! There are so many amazing tools out there to make our lives easier, so I spend a lot of time researching and learning different ways of doing things and then bringing that to my firm and my client base. For example, we have a completely paperless system. We are working totally remotely (my team is all over the US), so we need to be able to get files digitally. Our clients can forward emails or snap pics of bills and receipts to Dext Prepare and then we publish them to QuickBooks. We can also pay bills online using QBO’s integrated billpay partner, Melio. It’s a full service solution using a unique tech stack to make everyone’s lives easier.
It’s not just compliance work either. We’re not just doing data entry over here, we’re paying attention to the details. Is there, all of the sudden, a $2000 plane ticket to Iceland when we know you’re not going to Iceland anytime soon? Yep, we’ve definitely found fraud where someone’s credit card got hacked. We also just keep an eye out for trends or changes.
